EVNNEreleased their fourth mini album "HOT MESS" on February 10, 2025. The album marks a shift from their typically organized choreography to a more free-spirited approach. It features two main concepts: "Splatter," showing the group in a colorful, energetic setting, and "Sowing," depicting them in a calmer, garden-like environment.
The mini album contains six tracks, including the pop-rock title track 'HOT MESS,' which encourages living in the moment, and a Korean version of their previous Japanese single '景色 (KESHIKI).' Several members contributed to the album's creation: YOO SEUNGEON and PARK JIHOO co-wrote lyrics for the title track, SEUNGEON wrote lyrics for "Youth," JI YUNSEO penned "Love Like That," and leader KEITA composed and wrote "景色 (KESHIKI)."
The album's themes revolve around embracing chaos and imperfection while maintaining balance, similar to tending a garden. This represents EVNNE's artistic growth in their second year since debut, showcasing their ability to handle both structured and more relaxed performances.
KW: If you could learn a new skill by tomorrow, what would it be and why?
JUNGHYUN: I want to learn KEITA's songwriting and composition skills. I recently got interested and started composing, and since KEITA is good at composing, I would love to gain that ability.
Much like nurturing a song from an idea into a full composition, SEUNGEON finds meaning in growing something from the ground up—quite literally.
KW: If you were a farmer, what would be your fruit or vegetable of choice?
SEUNGEON: I would like to grow pears. I always eat pears and bellflower roots as a drink because they are good for my throat. So, if I grew them myself, I could always have something good for my throat whenever I felt the need.
JUNGHYUN’s passion for composing and SEUNGEON’s desire to cultivate nourishing fruit reflect a similar creative process—both require patience, care, and an understanding of how different elements come together to produce something meaningful.
As EVNNE embarks on this new chapter with "Hot Mess," their ability to craft impactful music and grow as artists is undeniable. With members like JUNGHYUN eager to refine their skills and SEUNGEON valuing the importance of sustenance—both in music and in life—EVNNE is set to keep flourishing.
Meanwhile, EVNNE are getting ready to have their 2025 concert "SET N GO" tour, which will span 11 cities from Seoul to Jakarta beginning April 5.
