‘Fraktsiya’ is a hip-hop track influenced by the UK’s own homegrown drill, with a mix of house-inspired chords and heavy 808 bass, laid under MARK’s hard-hitting verses that highlight his group’s and his own huge accomplishments. Lee Young Ji, one of Korea’s leading rappers, adds an extra edge with her own unrelenting bars, culminating in a record that feels like a victory lap for two artists at the top of their game.
MARK said of the record: “The K-Pop industry was my inspiration for this song. Looking at my position in the K-Pop scene made me think that I can be living in various worlds. With Young Ji as the featuring artist, she seemed like a similar character.”
On the collaboration, he added: “I've always wanted to do SOMETHING with Young Ji one day. I always imagined that we'd have an interesting type of chemistry and I for sure wasn't wrong. I reached out to her and she was so positive about the request. Thanks to Young Ji one more time.”
With Lee Young Ji having her own huge year, joining MARK for a record is a natural fusion of two of the biggest names in K-Pop. This magic is seen onscreen as well in the official music video: “[The video mixes in] various comedic scenes and humorous moments that go along with the lyrics. The chemistry with me and Young Ji especially is very well portrayed in the video,” said MARK.
The release also serves to show fans what’s to come – ‘Fraktsiya’ is a pre-release song from the Canadian-born artist’s highly-anticipated debut solo album expected in April of next year.
