NewJeans Announce Intent to Terminate Contracts with ADOR in Emergency Press Conference

Girl group NewJeans announced that they will terminate their exclusive contract with ADOR starting November 29 at midnight.

An emergency press conference was held on the afternoon of November 28 at a location in Seoul regarding the termination of New Jeans' exclusive contract. NewJeans members Minji, Hani, Haerin, Daniel, and Hyein attended the event.

At the conference Hani said, "The certified mail we sent to ADOR two weeks ago is something that all five of us agreed to. The deadline for requesting corrective action was today, but we don't see any intention to accept our demands.

She stated, "The reason I am leaving ADOR is very simple. NewJeans is an artist under ADOR, and ADOR has a duty to protect NewJeans. It is the most basic duty, but Adore has neither the will nor the ability to protect NewJeans. I think the mental pain will continue if I stay here. There is nothing I can gain from it."

Meanwhile, NewJeans sent a certified letter to ADOR on the November 13 titled, "Request for Correction of Violation of Exclusive Contract," and the deadline for response was November 28. NewJeans stated that if the request for correction is not met, the exclusive contract will be terminated.

The group expressed the desire to keep their name NewJeans.

However, Ador responded to the press conference an hour after later  stating that; "Just because the members argue that trust has been broken, does not mean that the contracts can be terminated. The contract still stands and we ask the members to continue their activities just as before. We regret that NewJeans held a press conference before thoroughly reviewing our response to their demands.

Although the next steps of NewJeans is unclear at the moment, the group and fans remain hopeful for the future.
