Rapper Sleepy Wins 5-Year Long Lawsuit Battle Against TS Entertainment


The artist and entertainer Sleepy has finally won his legal battle with his former agency, TS Entertainment.

On the September 14, it was reported by Munhwa Ilbo that on 12th the Supreme Court's 3rd Division dismissed the plaintiff's (TS) appeal in the damages lawsuit filed by TS Entertainment (TS) against SLEEPY.

Accordingly, TS will also have to pay the legal costs. TS previously lost in the first and second trials, but continued the legal dispute by filing an appeal.

According to the report, the Supreme Court explained the reason for dismissing the appeal that day, "We have reviewed the records of this case, the original judgment, and the statement of reasons for the appeal, but the argument regarding the reasons for the appeal does not include the reasons specified in Article 4, Paragraph 1 of the 'Special Act on Appeal Procedures' or is deemed to be without reason, so the appeal is dismissed in accordance with Article 5 of the said Act."

In 2022, Sleepy filed a lawsuit against TS Entertainment for unpaid contract fees and unsettled broadcast appearance fees. In the first trial, the court ruled that TS Entertainment should pay Sleepy 200 million won.

In addition, in June, the 15th Civil Division of the Seoul High Court ruled in favor of Sleepy in the lawsuit for damages filed by TS Entertainment against Sleepy.

Sleepy celebrated the win of the 5 year battle since leaving TS on his personal Instagram, where he was met with congratulary comments from former labelmates such as Song Jieun, Yoo Youngjae, Jung Hana, and fellow rapper DINDIN, and more. 

Born in 1984, Sleepy is 40 years old this year and debuted with Untouchable in 2008. He was active under TS Entertainment from 2008 to 2019 and is currently under PVO.
