K-Pop supergroup NCT 127 return with their sixth full studio album “WALK”, led by the focus single of the same name, out digitally today. Arriving at the pinnacle of summer, the 11-track album once again defines NCT 127 as a genre-defying group pushing the sonic boundaries of Korean pop, with songs that range from drum-led hip hop to soft guitar melodies. “WALK” is now available on various music sites including iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, and more HERE. Pre-order for the physical album due out July 19 is also available HERE.
For the first time in their eight-year career, NCT 127’s members take on early 2000s hip hop with focus single ‘Walk’. The track has an infectious early aughties feel, with boom bap-style drums, retro guitar riffs, and choreography inspired by mop-style hip hop dancing. The lyrics symbolise NCT 127’s confidence and pride in forging their own path rather than following someone else’s.

‘Walk’ isn’t their only move into hip hop on the album, with ‘Intro: Wall to Wall’ using the genre to reflect on the journey NCT 127 have taken since their debut in 2016 and their aspirations for the future. ‘No Clue’ takes the less serious route, blending hip hop, soul, and funk to celebrate living free without being weighed down by thoughts; while ‘Orange Seoul’, with its jazzy sax and piano melodies, describes dreamy watercolour sunsets over Seoul, a symbolic city for the group.
The LP also features ‘Pricey’, an honest examination of love’s many costs, set to bouncy 808 drums. Mid-tempo ‘Time Capsule’ recalls sweet memories with loved ones unchanging with time, and dreamy ‘Can’t Help Myself’ describes a fateful story of love.
‘Rain Drop’ is a soulful R&B tune about articulating one's inner feelings, followed by electro-trap ‘Gas’ revving up the tracklist to encourage everyone to step on the accelerator, full speed ahead. The album concludes with ‘Suddenly’, an intense portrayal of gradual attraction, and ‘Meaning of Love’, a sweet guitar-driven song about love.
“WALK” is NCT 127’s first full release of 2024, following their three-track winter EP “Be There For Me – Winter Special Single” and last year’s fifth full studio album “Fact Check”. In between group activities, the members have treated fans to near non-stop solo releases, including MARK’s solo debut single ‘200’ in May, DOYOUNG’s first solo album ‘Youth’ in April, and TAEYONG’s sophomore solo EP ‘Tap’ in April.
