P1Harmony has released their very first full-length album, Killin’ It, digitally. The Album consists of 10 songs, many of which certain members had a hand in contributing to.
The title track, also named “Killin’ It,” is a high energy track that fans have come to expect from the 6-member group. Staying true to their vibe, the song has distinct, impressive rap verses while still allowing space for the vocalists to showcase their own colors. The Music Video (MV) for “Killin’ It” is face- paced with a colorful yet grunge aspect that is further reflected in the diverse fashion pieces worn by the members. The title track itself and the MV are overflowing with personality and attitude, from the chant-y yet chill chorus of the song to the addictive choreo seen in the MV.
After that high energy opener, the Piwon boys calm it down a tad with Track 2, "Late Night Calls" which is a pop-RnB track with their signature sweet vocals and pleasing harmonies.
After calming it down, the boys decide to pick up the pace slightly with Track 3, "Everybody Clap". It is a vibey, rap-driven track that follows the solid formula of a P1Harmony B-side. The unexpected rhythm and melody changes take the listener on a journey while listening. Can’t help but crack a smile at the witty “If you’re happy and you know it” line within a song called “Everybody Clap.”
Rather than gradually building their way up to another high energy banger, P1Harmony takes a soft turn with Track 4, "Love Story". Like the track’s title, this sweet song sounds as if a love story was transformed into a musical form. The soothing, serenading vocals and comfy yet bright instrumentals makes the song sound like a soundtrack straight out of a romcom.
Though both have love in common, Love Story and Track 5, "Countdown to Love", couldn’t be more different. Countdown to Love is a fun and groovy track with distinct heavy trap-like rap sections that stand out within it.
Keeping the guitar elements from Countdown to Love, Track 6, "Emergency" utilizes a funky yet heavy guitar riff throughout the song that gives it a rock-esque feeling. Emergency switches up a bit in the bridge and makes way for an RnB break-down to showcase the team’s smooth vocals.
Still sticking with the slight guitar trend they have going on in the second half of the album, Track 7, "2Nite" also has a very distinct guitar driving the pace of the track but this time, rather than a lead guitar, it's a bass. This bass grounds the song and guides the melodies of this track.
The utilization of bass travels into Track 8, "Let Me Love You", which opens up with a strong rap section that immediately grabs the listener’s attention. Similarly to Track 3, the tempo changes in this track makes it interesting to listen to what may come next in terms of musicality or rhythm.
Although Track 8 began with a rap verse, it was not very rap-driven but Track 9, "Street Star" is. Street Star is probably the most rap-heavy track in the album so far with all the verses and bridge being rap heavy. But the pre-chorus and chorus are reserved for the strong vocals to shine.
And shine the vocals did, especially in Track 10, "I See U." It is another light-hearted turn in the “Killin’ It” album’s pace. This track is a cute and bouncy song that resembles the color pink. The catchy melody of the chorus makes it easy for listeners to sing along to and catch the flow of the track.
The physical version of P1Harmony’s “Killin’ It” album will drop on February 7 and on February 9th in the United States.
