The First Female K-pop group From an Independent Label returns to the US Mediabase Top 40 hot off their fiery performance at KCON.
High-powered K-Pop girl group (G)I-DLE has had a busy Summer as they kick off the countdown to their fully English EP titled ‘HEAT’ this October. Fresh off the heels of their KCON performance at the Crypto.com Arena this past weekend, “I DO”, made its debut on the Mediabase Top 40 chart after its release on July 14. Their new music and video represent their need to bring their artistic and musical vision to life as they self-produce and write their own music.
Amidst their World Tour, fans of (G)I-DLE have come out in the thousands to support the K-pop girl group sensation while releasing their first US Single Top 40 track “I DO,” in anticipation of the globally timed release of their special EP ‘HEAT,’ on October 5th at 5PM PST/October 6th at 9AM KST. This is the group’s second entry on the chart which is significant for their continuous power to showcase their appeal and fan engagement to the North American audience.
In a monumental first, their hit single “Nxde” landed at no. 39 on Mediabase Top 40, while also debuting at no. 40 on the Billboard Pop Airplay Chart and was listed as Rolling Stone’s The 100 Best Songs of 2022. Although it had been tried previously by many, “Nxde” marked the first Korean language song to make the highly influential chart. The music video for the now famous track was inspired by artists Marilyn Monroe and Banksy, accumulating an astounding 29M views within 24 hours. Their mini album “I love”, released in 2022, surpassed over 700k stock pre-orders and entered ‘Billboard 200’ charts.
(G)I-DLE, who reached heights with their 1st Full Album “I NEVER DIE” released in March 2022, topping the iTunes charts in 24 countries and placing 58th on ‘Billboard Global 200.’ They returned just 7 months later with their 5th mini album “I love,” after successfully completing their 2022 (G)I-DLE WORLD TOUR [JUST ME (G)I-DLE] in 18 cities within 10 countries.
