On Saturday, August 20th at 6 PM in Suwon (South Korea) there was the most anticipated concert of all times: SMTOWN LIVE 2022. Back on January 1st an online a version of this mega concert with all S.M Entertainment artists performing on the same stage, was made. But this time was an offline concert mostly, after the COVID-19 pandemic pulling apart all the world, especially the music sector.
I’m going to talk about the experience I had with the new online event app BEYOND LIVE, on which I watched the huge show.
It was announced to begin at 6 PM in Suwon, but there was a one-hour delay due to on-site circumstances.
After that long period of waiting, the show started with a boom; AESPA was the first artist to perform with the hit “Next Level”. The girls killed the stage and made the crowd shout, busted with energy. Another song ‘GIRLS’ from the new album was played in the middle of the show as well.
RED VELVET’s Wendy and Joy made their solo stages with a group performance.
EXO’s Xiumin, SUHO, KAI, CHEN, and D.O performed only solo stages with a group talk, but no group performance for the entire show.
Next WAYV had “Kick Back”, “Miracle” and solo stages such as TEN with BOA, XIAOJUN solo, YANGYANG solo and HENDERY with “Zoo”.
GIRLS’ GENERATION had a great return with TAEYEON’s and HYO’s solo performances, GOT THE BEAT performance and group new song “FOREVER 1”.
TVXQ solo stages and iconic song “Mirotic”.
A new stage with SMROKIES, SHOTARO and SUNGCHAN.
NCT DREAM performing along with NCT 127 and NCT 2021 with “Universe”.
KANGTA solo stage, and two KEY stages with his upcoming new song “Gasoline” and MINHO’s “Heartbreak”.
In the end, a group song “Hope” was performed and that is the moment when all SM artists joined together on the stage approaching the fans like a big family.
Honestly, it was my first time viewing this show with the public, but it was intense. BEYOND LIVE allowed you to enjoy the show with a real HD experience, on-site it’s not always possible. But stay in the same place with the artists you love, has not been replaced.
